A hike with expansive views - even if you only walk the first stage. Beautiful scenery are awaiting the hikers - the rushing river Eder and fairytale paths.
The 11 km long stage of the premium hiking trail leads through various landscape along the Eder around Schwarzenau. The approximately 3.5 h tour leads through hilly landscape and rewards you with wonderful panoramic views on the heights and adventurous nature trails in the valleys.
From the outlook platform you have a particularly good view of the past and the coming sections of the trail.

Follow the hiking sign in the direction of Schwarzenau Ortsmitte. You will pass a historic baptismal site. In August 1708, Alexander Mack baptised the first fellow believers in the river Eder. This was the foundation of the Church of the Brethren. Continue on to the Schwarzenau hunting lodge.
A long, steep climb follows to the settlement of Hüttental. The Alexander Mack Museum is located there. The strenuous walk is rewarded with a remarkable view from the lookout platform.
Now the tour leads over the heights. After a descent to the Friedenseiche (peace oak), we turn left and follow the signs for "Runde Schwarzenau".
We walk along a former irrigation ditch with a view to the Magertrift biotope. Then we pass former quarries and cross the Eder-Bicyle-tour.
After a while we reach our starting point, the Schwarzenau Mill.

Comming from Raumland or Hatzfeld, please follow the L553 to Schwarzenau. In the village center change to the Alexander-Mack-Strasse. Cross the river Eder and turn left and immediatle right to the "Am Mühlgragen". You will find the parking space above the "Schwarzenauer Mühle".Parking
